Welcome to thumpin’ Thursday, the first post in which my view count is in the 6 digits! I have a great song from REM for tonight’s session.
I have lately wanted to really take the time to cover the songs that I have wanted to cover and that I enjoy covering. However, if you have a request please feel free to request it! I love doing requests, but if I get none I just fall back on the songs and bands that I like.
I have always loved the album this song is off of. I pretty much have each song memorized.
I hope you enjoy this album cut, and see you next week for more fun!

Nice one, Jeff. This is from my favorite REM album, second only to “Accelerate.” I absolutely love the other deep tracks like “Crush with Eyeliner” and “Bang and Blame.” “Strange Currencies” is a wonderful slow song. Even “Star 69″ — it’s so cheesy, but so catchy. I guess that must have been an all-new technology in 1994, but to look back on it now it’s like: “Really? You wrote a song about it?” I shouldn’t criticize, since I sing along to it and enjoy myself every time!!
Anyway, I can’t wait to listen to “Monster” on my drive to work this morning. This must really be a favorite of yours, since you recorded “What’s the Frequency, Kenneth?” previously.
One thing though — I’ve never really been able to figure out how the cover makes any sense — the big orange bear. Any thoughts?
Again, nice choice and great performance!
