Welcome to your Thumpin’ Thursday edition of the Laptop Sessions! I bring you yet another song from the Wallflowers, and one that not everyone is going to catch.
The song is “Empire in My Mind”, which is a bonus track from their album “Red Letter Days”. It is a solidly written song as well. While simple as well, it remains a favorite of mine.
The Laptop Sessions continue the trek through 2008 for a Session a day! Stay tuned for my next video on Sunday, and then my next edition of Original Wednesday, where you will get to hear a world premiere from my upcoming album!
I hope you are enjoying the Laptop Sessions!

Jeff,
Isn’t it “Empire IN My Mind”?
Great job, either way- I’ve always liked this song.

You know something, you’re half-right.
The title of the song is correct, however upon further investigation the lyrics do go “Empire in My Mind”.
I guess I equated the title to what I was hearing. Good factoid – going to edit my Youtube description now.

Actually, I just went on Amazon:

They have it as “in”, too. It was the theme song for some show for a while- might be worth checking which one. I only wanted to post this so people could find it, in case it is the wrong title.

“Empire in My Mind” was the theme song for “The Guardian” on CBS (it ended a few years ago). Wikipedia has more info.
As a side note, great song Jeff! I have to start recording more Wallflowers tunes before you get all the good ones!
