  • The Laptop Sessions: “Spies” (Coldplay Acoustic Rock Cover Song)

    Thursday, March 27th, 2008

    By Jeff Copperthite:

Welcome once again to Thumpin’ Thursday. It’s Jeff today bringing you the next video in our ongoing series.

I’ve got a real cool tune coming your way today. It’s another new band here on laptopsessions.com, and the band is Coldplay. While Coldplay is among one of the more critiqued bands out there, it is hard to deny that they come out with great sounding songs. I’m always impressed by the guitar work on the two albums I own from them. The song I have chosen to play is “Spies” from their album Parachutes.

The song itself is not in standard tuning, and I at first tried to figure this song out. However I picked it up quickly once I learned the alternate tuning that is used in the song. It has a cool feel along with a unique sound.

As far as my performance, the bridge was the hardest part in this take, but despite mis-fingering two chords in the bridge, the rest of it is quite solid and brings out the spirit of the song.

It also translates well to acoustic, since the recorded version is also heavily based on acoustic.

Also, remember that I will be playing w/ Masters of the Universe this coming Wednesday @ the Southern CT University talent show. If you are in the area and want to hear a great free show and some great talent, please join us! More information can be found on http://www.fusco-moore.com

Check back tomorrow for Jim’s latest video!

  • The Laptop Sessions: “Hold You Soon” (New Music by Indie Music Songwriter Chris Moore!)

    Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

    By Chris Moore:

Well, it’s that time again… for another Original Wednesday Laptop Session! For today’s installment, I decided to break out a slower song that’s never been released before. I wrote it this summer when my girlfriend and two best friends were out of the country (her in England and them in Italy). They were off on adventures in other countries, and I was still at home, going through everyday life as usual.

Except I was alone most of the time.

For the most part, it was relaxing, as I had just finished my student teaching. But, it was also lonely, and I thought about them often, especially Nicole. Thus, this song kind of came to me as I was practicing another song. It really expresses the feeling of figuring something out about a relationship, but being too distant to share it. Yet.

On a side note, I just found out that Jim, Jeff, and I will be playing two live shows in the coming weeks, so be sure to check http://LaptopSessions for all the details! (Just search “Live Events”)

I hope you enjoy this video and please comment or rate it!

  • The Laptop Sessions: “Everything I Need” (Wallflowers Acoustic Rock Cover Songs) - Triple Threat Tuesday

    Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

    By Jim Fusco:

Welcome to another Triple Threat Tuesday edition of the Laptop Sessions, as Jeff, Chris, and I all bring you this great tune from the Wallflowers- “Everything I Need”.

It’s funny how much I love “Red Letter Days” but never could get into any of their other albums. I love the hooks and the rockin’ sound on that album- I’ll be doing other songs off of it soon including my favorite: “How Good It Can Get”.

We’re going to see the Wallflowers for the first time in a few weeks- check the blog at http://laptopsessions.com to read our reviews of the concert!

I did this song in ONE take- which is a very rare occurrence. I’ve always liked how simple this song is, but still incredibly catchy.

I have SO many songs I can’t wait to premiere for everyone, as I’ve been trying to get as many Sessions done as possible so I can continue work on my two new album projects.

These videos are only three in a series of acoustic cover songs here on the Fusco-Moore Productions Blog.

  • Video Blog Site Update: A message from Cliff…via his “last” journal entries

    Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Hello everyone. Some bittersweet news today, as the Fusco-Moore suite of websites are finally done (albeit with a few changes still needed)! The bittersweet part? Well, I happened upon my basement and saw Cliff lying in a heap a journal entitled “Diary of a Web Designer”. I thought I would share its final entries with you:

    Diary of a Web Designer

Feb 8 2008: Jim sent me his design for the Fusco-Moore Music site. I told him I’d get it working when I had time. What a sap – bought it, hook, line, and sinker.

Feb 21 2008: Jim asked about progress of the site. I told him I was working on it. Back to playing “Portal” for me!

March 7 2008: I woke to a painful head in a darkened room. I’ve been chained to a desk with only this laptop and a bucket. I get periodic feedings via a dirty plate, and after some time, learned that Jim has me hostage to get his damn site done. Honestly, did I really deserve this?

March 12 2008: I’ve lost quite a lot of weight from being down here, but the sites are getting done. According to the news, my family stopped looking for me… 4 days ago. I can’t communicate with them though… Jim has those ports blocked. But I seem to be doing fine. I’m a little itchy, but doing OK.

March 13 2008: I just discovered a huge rash on my foot, and I itch all over badly. It’s hard to get these sites done with the constant itching. Soon… they will be done soon… I hope Jim brings me the ointment he promised for the itching.

March 17 2008: I think Jim forgot about me, because the site is nearing completion, but my rashes have gotten worse. Not only do I itch ridiculously at this point, but also my body is hot and sweaty all the time. I started to scratch one of my rashes, and some rotten flesh fell off. What the hell’s happening to me!?

March 21 2008: Fever gone but itchy. Today hungry and eat trackball.

March 23 2008: Itchy itchy Chris came ugly face so killed him. Tasty.

    25 / / Itchy. Tasty.

    _________

And that’s how the journal ended. Someone should probably check on Chris… Well, this post should get two points across: get stuff done quickly and don’t become a web developer!

    Tasty…

    ~Jim

  • The Laptop Sessions: “A Matter Of Trust” (Billy Joel Acoustic Rock Cover Song)

    Monday, March 24th, 2008

    By Jeff Copperthite:

Oh yeah here we go. Welcome to your Monday edition of The Laptop Sessions, and i’m posting today earlier than usual since I am fortunate to have the day off. Easter Monday ftw!

Today I introduce another new artist to the Laptop Sessions, and I know that he is a popular one. The song I have chosen is “A Matter of Trust” by Billy Joel, from his 1986 album “The Bridge”. This was his most popular single off this album, and translated well to an acoustic version. The song itself made it as high as #3 on the charts when it was released as a single.

You can tell I had a lot of fun doing this song. Ever since I heard it I became an instant fan, and the more I like a song, the more I enjoy performing the session. I hope the enthusiasm is apparent and makes the video a positive one for you to watch.

I’m hoping to hit 7k views by next Monday. If you like the video, comment on it, rate it, favorite it, subscribe, or pass it on. Thank you for being a regular visitor to The Laptop Sessions!
