  • The Laptop Sessions: “Only The Good Die Young” (Billy Joel Acoustic Cover Song)

    Sunday, August 24th, 2008

    By Jeff Copperthite:

Wow, what a difference typing in this brand spanking new editor.   But enough about that…

Welcome to Sunday’s edition of the sessions.  Today I bring you our third Billy Joel song for the site, and it’s a 30 year old song.  Heck, it even was banned on the radio!  I suggest you read up on that story - it’s quite interesting.

I did this song on a hot day after coming home from a meeting, so pardon the unusual button down shirt.  I really am proud of this performance - I think I nailed the vocals and did very clean guitar to accompany the singing.

Also, you better listen to the mp3s from the two shows Jim posted.  I can’t wait to listen to them myself!  Also, come back tomorrow for Jim’s latest session.

  • FREE Live Concert mp3 Download: Testa’s 04-12-08

    Sunday, August 24th, 2008

During the months of April and May 2008, the touring band of FMP Music was as busy as it’s ever been.  Playing one of their first ever paid gigs, the group of Jim Fusco, Chris Moore, and Jeff Copperthite played a little dive in Southington called Testa’s.

The interesting thing about Testa’s is that it’s both a classic hole-in-the-wall bar…coupled with a fancy wedding banquet hall attached to the building…

Of course, the boys played at the bar…

Yes, the drink prices were hiked up and the only patrons that night were about five regulars (who loved the band, by the way) and the rest friends and family of the band, but that made it a really personable, good time.  There were only a few instances of a drunken patron heckling and “getting to know” the fans of the band.

The entire concert of two and a half hours was not taped- less than ten were recorded on Jim Fusco’s digital camera.  The video quality is poor, at best.  Even using the latest in professional video editing equipment, we can’t get but an outline of each band member, so we’ve decided just to use the audio instead.

As with many of the live shows, the absence of drums is felt, but the playing and the atmosphere made up for the loss.  The audio was cleaned up by Jim Fusco using his professional mastering techniques, so you can actually hear the band instead of mostly the talking from the crowd.

We hope you enjoy this little slice of Fusco-Moore history with this free mp3 download of five songs from the concert.  Just remember, whenever there’s a live concert show, we’ll be there with cameras and microphones to catch all we can.  The plus side is that with each time out, the quality and the professionalism goes up and up…which is a relief for Jim Fusco because each time he has to do less and less work cleaning everything up!

  • FREE Live Concert mp3 Download: George’s II Open Mic Night 04-17-08

    Sunday, August 24th, 2008

Chris, Jim, Mike, and Jeff rocked the Open Mic Night at George’s II Restaurant in Wallingford, CT on April 17, 2008. The exercise was an audition of sorts for the quartet’s upcoming solo show in May. Well, the band passed with flying colors.

Highlights of the 1/2 hour set include the rocking extended version of “Where Are We Now?” which included Jeff playing so hard, he blew his bass amp! We always knew the FMP Live shows were “smokin”, but we never meant it literally before this show.

Unfortunately, the video portion of the concert is way too dark to make out anything but two flickers of light for the entire set. So, we just offer the mp3 version for your listening pleasure!
