    “Wishful Thinking”
    Wilco

    D     F#m     Bm     E     G     D     G

    Em                                 D
    Fill up your mind with all it can know;
    G                                      Em
Don’t forget that your body will let it all go.
    Em                                    D                             G
Fill up your mind with all it can know…
    D                         Bm              G                   D
What would we be without wishful thinking?

    F#m     Bm     E     G     D     G

    D                                          F#m
Chambers of chains with red plastic mouths,
    Bm                             E
The inside of outside… No one has found
    G                              D                        G
How to unring the bell, it’s just as well.

The turntable sizzles, the casting of spells,
The pressure devices… Hell in a nutshell.
Is any song worthy singing if it doesn’t help?

    Fill up your mind with all it can know;
Don’t forget that your body will let it all go.
Fill up your mind with all it can know…
‘Cause what would love be without wishful thinking?

Open your arms as far as they will go.
Take off your dress; an embarrassing poem
Was written when I was alone in love with you.

I shook down these lines to shine up the streets,
I got up off my hands and knees to thank my luck stars
    That you’re not me…

    D                         Bm                G                D
What would we be without wishful thinking?
    Am                      Em                G                D
What would we be without wishful thinking?
    Am                      Em                G                D           Bm
What would we be without wishful thinking?

    Am     Em     G     D     F#m     Bm     E

    Pearl Jam

    C                                                                G
Yes I understand that every life must end, aw huh…
As we sit alone, I know someday we must go, aw huh…
I’m a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love…
Some folks just have one, others they got none, aw huh…

    Am
    Stay with me…
    F
    Let’s just breathe.

Practiced are my sins, never gonna let me win, aw huh…
Under everything, just another human being, aw huh…
Yeh, I don’t wanna hurt, there’s so much in this world to make me bleed.

    Stay with me…
    You’re all I see.

    G                     Dm
Did I say that I need you?
    G                     Dm
Did I say that I want you?
    F                           Am
    Oh, if I didn’t I’m a fool you see…
    F                                             G
No one knows this more than me.
    G
    As I come clean.

I wonder everyday as I look upon your face, aw huh…
Everything you gave and nothing you would take, aw huh…

    Nothing you would take…
    Everything you gave.

Did I say that I need you?
Oh, did I say that I want you?
    Oh, if I didn’t now I’m a fool you see…
No one knows this more than me.
    As I come clean.

    (Fingerpicking over verse chords)

    Am
    Nothing you would take…
    F
    Everything you gave.
    Hold me till I die…
Meet you on the other side.

  • “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” by Jack Norworth & Albert Von Tilzer – Chords, Lyrics, & How to Play

“Take Me Out To The Ball Game”
Words by Jack Norworth; Music by Albert Von Tilzer

    C                                                 D7
Katie Casey was baseball mad, had the fever and had it bad,
    G7                                                                              C
Just to root for the home town crew, ev’ry sou, Katie blew.
On a Saturday, her young beau called to see if she’d like to go,
To see a show, but Miss Katie said, “No, I’ll tell you what I can do:”

    C                            G    G7      C                               G
Take me out to the ball game, take me out with the crowd.
    A                     A7                Dm                D                     G7
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack; I don’t care if I never get back.
    G7       C                                G        G7        C7                           A7
Let me root, root, root for the home team; if they don’t win it’s a shame.
    A7       F      D7   C                              A7           D7  G7  C
For it’s one, two, three strikes, you’re out at the old ball game.

Katie Casey saw all the games, knew the players by their first names,
Told the umpire he was wrong, all along, good and strong.
When the score was just two to two, Katie Casey knew what to do
Just to cheer up the boys she knew, she made the gang sing this song:

Take me out to the ball game, take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack; I don’t care if I never get back.
Let me root, root, root for the home team; if they don’t win it’s a shame.
For it’s one, two, three strikes, you’re out at the old ball game.

  • Chords/Lyrics: “King of Comedy” by REM

    All Verses: D, Dsus4, A, C, G, A, Asus4

    Chorus: Gm, C, G

    Bridge: G, slide down (x8)

    Lyrics

Make your money with a suit and tie
Make your money with shrewd denial
    Make your money expert advice,
    If you can wing it
Make your money with a power ply
Make your money with a buyout bribe
Make it lie as long as you mean it

    I’m not king of comedy,
Grease the pig, give a squeeze (squeeze me)

    Make your money with exploitation
    Make it holy illumination
Say a prayer at every station
Don’t forget to ask for mercy
Make your money with a pretty face
Make it easy with product placement
    Make it charged with controversy
    I’m straight, I’m queer, I’m bi

    I’m not king of comedy,
    I’m not your magazine,
    I’m not your television

Make your money, make it rich
Make it young and make it quick
Make your money on the jukebox, baby,
    It’s pick up sticks,
Make your enemies, make your moves
    Make your critics fumble through
Make it smart and make it schmooze
    Make it look easy

    I’m not king of comedy,
    I’m not your magazine,
    I’m not your television,
    I’m not your movie screen
I’m not commodity (all together now)
    I’m not commodity
    I’m not commodity

Chords / How to Play Songs

Many amateur musicians say to themselves, “I own an acoustic guitar, but I’m not sure how to play my favorite new music.” They may visit a video blog to try to figure out the chords, or they may go in search of the acoustic tabs. Regardless of the approach, there is a proliferation of chords sites that are incorrectly transcribed as often as not. This can be frustrating. Thus, the songwriters of the Laptop Sessions have established a “Chords / How to Play…” section on their website devoted to providing accurate chords/tabs for cover songs and new music. These are “How to…” articles written by young artists who know how to write a song and love to listen to new music – whenever possible, they are trying to share the chords and tabs that they have developed for their favorite music. The best cover songs are the ones that are played as faithfully to the originals, at least in terms of chords, and the boys of the Laptop Sessions hope to aid fellow musicians to play their own cover songs.
