    Good day to you out there on the internet! It’s Jeff here for today’s installment of The Laptop Sessions.

    Today I bring you a great song from a band that is new to our series. The song is “Found Out About You” by the band Gin Blossoms. They have long since disbanded, but many of their hits still get plenty of airplay on the radio and this is a song you probably know quite well. This song is from their 1992 album “New Miserable Experience”.

    I have always been a fan of their singles, and among them this ranks as my favorite behind “Hey Jealousy”. The issue with this song is that it doesn’t translate as well as I thought it would to acoustic. Still, I am proud of this version and I hope you enjoy it as much.

    Original Wednesday is less than 24 hours away, and I can’t wait to see which song Jim breaks out of hiding!

    Good evening to you on this Friday.   Jeff Copperthite here today with your latest edition of The Laptop Sessions.  Today I am bringing you another song from a previously covered band.

    From their album “New Miserable Experience” I bring you my acoustic cover video of Gin Blossoms’ hit song “Hey Jealousy”.  Again from Colchester, VT (for the last time this year) as you can tell by the background.  Acoustics are interesting in the room to say the least.  Also, the lighting isn’t the greatest, but I view that as a plus – you don’t have to look at my ugly mug in as much detail!

    The song came out fine, although I did time some for the vocals a bit differently than the recording.  I also used  a capo when I could’ve gotten away with doing it in standard position.  However, the song is much much easier to play on 2nd fret capo.  I hope you enjoy it.

    I would’ve posted earlier but my wife & I attended a casino night in the hotel and came out only down $20 after 3 hours – a win in my book.  However, I did miss the thrilling Michael Phelps’ 7th gold medal by .01 seconds on TV.

Gin Blossoms Acoustic Rock Cover Songs and Free mp3 Downloads

Formed in 1987 by Doug Hopkins (who was forced to leave the band in 1993) in Tempe, Arizona, they were a band who certainly wasn’t “mainstream” until their debut label album “New Miserable Experience”, which yielded multiple Top 40 singles “Hey Jealousy”, “Found Out About You”, and “Allison Road” to name a few. Their sophomore album (oddly enough almost titled “Sophomore Jinx” according to some rumors) was released in 1996 with new guitarist Scott Johnson (to replace Hopkins) titled “Congratulations I’m Sorry”. From that album, the most popular single was “Follow You Down” (a song Jeff has on his list of videos to do). Jeff has covered “Found Out About You”, to good reviews. “The only comments I’ve received were positive ones.”, says Jeff. All the session members enjoy this band, and do plan on covering this band more than once.
