  • “Sour Girl” (Stone Temple Pilots Acoustic Rock Cover Song) – The Laptop Sessions

    Monday, March 31st, 2008

    By Jim Fusco:

Welcome to another Monday, Monday version of the Laptop Sessions!

Back here with my first video from Stone Temple Pilots, a band Jeff got me into. I love a lot of their hits, but this one clearly stood out to me. Anyone who’s familiar with my musical tastes will be able to figure out why.

“Sour Girl” has some great singing, a great tune, and an interesting message about a girl who seems very unhappy while around the singer, and happy when she looks away. What great fodder for a song!

Now, I need to mention this, and I hope my upwards of 100 subscribers will check this out:

WE’RE RELEASING A NEW ALBUM ON APRIL 1st!!

It’s called Homestead’s Revenge (by Masters of the Universe- the band I’m in) and the entire album will be available to listen to after midnight on the 1st. Plus, you can buy the high quality mp3s or the CD version. Here’s the web address:

I hope you all enjoy today’s Session, and REALLY enjoy the new album- it’s two years in the making!

Stone Temple Pilots Acoustic Rock Cover Songs and Free mp3 Downloads

Formed in 1986 as “Mighty Joe Young”, they eventually changed their name to Stone Temple Pilots (the name they were considering before had the same initials STP, but was quite a bit different) upon the release of their debut album Core. They released four more albums before breaking up, and also performed for MTV Unplugged, the widely popular acoustic concert series. Singer Scott Weiland – a fine lyricist – was in and out of drug rehabilitation and other pressures were too much to hold the band together. However, as of March 21, 2008, they have reunited. STP has a widely variable sound, and much of their songs from Purple onward easily translate well to acoustic. Covers of their songs are favored by Jeff, and Jim has also contributed a song from their catalog as well. Jeff promises “More are coming!”. Jeff also wishes to mention: “I’m not Scott Weiland, I sound nothing like Scott Weiland, but I absolutely love STP and covering their songs is very easy for me.”
