“I Can’t Tell You Why” (The Eagles Cover)

By Jeff Copperthite:

Good afternoon to you! Thank you for checking out today’s Laptop Session. I really am looking forward to your watching this session, as it is my third Eagles acoustic cover video. Today I bring you the awesome ballad “I Can’t Tell You Why” from their album “The Long Run”.

This song is among the few that are sung by bassist Timothy Schmit. His voice is very sweet and appropriate for this song. I feel I did a great job emulating his singing style, and I hope you agree. The guitar part I play is an adaptation of the synthesizer that is constant in the song.

Also, if you are wondering why i’m dressed up, it is because I went to a wedding today (and am going to a reception in a little while). I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Lisa & Tom Kapitan on their wedding today.

Thank you again for checking out today’s session. Your weekend has just started, and I know you will come back tomorrow to see what Jim has in store for us all. Until then…

Editor’s Note: Unfortunately, Jeff’s acoustic cover song music videos are no longer on YouTube, but we decided to keep his cover song blog posts up.  We figured these music blog entries would be good for posterity’s sake and because Jeff always gave such insightful posts each Session.  We hope to see Jeff’s impressive catalog of acoustic rock songs here on the Laptop Sessions cover songs and original music blog again in the future.  But, for now, please make sure to check-out hundreds of other acoustic cover songs from all of your favorite bands here on the Laptop Sessions music blog!

“Please Come Home For Christmas” by Jim Fusco – FREE mp3 Download! – Day 7 of 14

By Jim Fusco:

Halfway home, folks!  I can’t believe it’s been a full week of releasing these Christmas songs.  I’ll admit, I actually just finished recording the album a few minutes ago, as I still had some guitar work to do.  Just another session of mixing and everything will be complete.  But, it’s like teaching- as long as you’re one page ahead of the students…

I bring you “Please Come Home For Christmas” in the style of The Eagles today, by request from my mom.  She loves the Laptop Sessions version we did a few years ago.  Now, I have to toot my own horn here and say that this newly recorded studio version sounds almost exactly like the original!  I worked very hard to get the correct sounds on the guitar, including the chorus sound on the arpeggiated guitar.

Tomorrow, we start week number two, so please keep coming back to download your free copy of all of these songs!  I hope you like “Please Come Home For Christmas” and see you tomorrow!

“Best Of My Love” (Eagles Cover)

By Jeff Copperthite:

Good evening to everyone out there! It’s Jeff bringing you today’s edition of The Laptop Sessions, and our third addition to #1 week here. I bring you a new band, and another hit #1 song.

Today’s band is The Eagles, among the kings of classic rock, and their #1 hit from “On the Border” – “Best Of My Love” is today’s song. I have always enjoyed The Eagles since my father introduced them to me when I was a kid. You will see more sessions from them in the future.

I always have liked this song, as have many others. The strumming is very catchy, and the story it tells of relationships is a good one as well.

Remember to come back tomorrow for Jim’s installment of Original Wednesday, and then on Thursday for another great #1 pick from Chris Moore’s library. Thank you for visiting laptopsessions.com!

“One of These Nights” (The Eagles Cover)

By Jeff Copperthite:

Good evening and Happy Memorial Day. I hope you had a glorious holiday and got to enjoy a parade, a hamburger, and perhaps a game of horseshoes. Well, at least I did.

Today we get to continue “Title Track” week with another song by The Eagles. It’s great, because I don’t have to tell you the album and song title – I get to tell you both when I type “One of These Nights”!

This is a great tune that is somewhat tricky to capture on acoustic guitar. I decided to do a slightly off-beat strum pattern for this song. I tried to do more takes with me singing the chorus at the higher octave, but I failed miserably. My voice just wasn’t ready to maintain that, so this take has me singing the chorus in a normal range. I also improvised a little at the end. After all, every live version of this song that i’ve heard has something different at the end too. Also, since the song fades out on the recording, I decided to end the song…well, watch to the end to find out!

Jim will be here tomorrow for his first installment for “Title Track” week. Thank you for visiting The Laptop Sessions and I hope you enjoyed this acoustic cover.
