It’s time for a long-overdue list here on the Laptop Sessions acoustic cover songs music video blog. This list will be updated from time to time so we can see if certain videos become more popular than others. Who knows what’ll be in our Top 10 as the months and years go on! As a note, Jeff Copperthite’s videos were taken offline for a while, so his views are definitely not where they should be. Had his account been left up the whole time, he definitely would’ve had some exposure in the Top 20 or maybe even the Top Ten!
We thought it would be interesting to see which cover song music videos ended-up being the most popular since the inception of the music blog back in 2007. It’s definitely interesting, but I don’t really see any patterns emerging. I would’ve expected songs that were very different from the originals, but songs like Johnny Cash’s take on “God’s Gonna Cut You Down” aren’t too different from the original recording. Maybe people just like to watch cover song videos so they can learn how to play it themselves! In the case of “Handle With Care” by the Traveling Wilburys, it may be because a full band was there to do a, well, not perfect, but “rousing” version of the song.
